Chocolate Scarf

Thought you'd like a change of photo. I had a couple skeins left over from Fringe and put it to good use, of course with Chicago in mind.

Now, you all might say, Isn't this a lot to do about nothing for THREE days? Well, I do plan on New York this time next year. So....

Tweed is DONE

Not bad considering everything.

Tweed One More Time

I know you're sick to death of this. So am I. BUT it's almost done. Need to crochet around bottom and buttonholes, maybe the collar?, and put some buttons on and weave in a few ends. It'll probably take days to dry as it was pretty soaking wet. I added some seed stitch cuffs on it. Maybe just one button on them cause they're pretty small.

A few soaks in Pantene conditioner has softened it up. I'm anxious to try it on to see if it will be part of my Chicago wardrobe. I could sure use a cream colored scarf to wear with this... OR would I look tooo knitted up?

The examination gloves are there because if I handle wet wool, my hands break out in blisters and it's not fun. Dry wool I have no problem with.

Weekend Away

At the last minute Favorite Neighbor decided to go up and see Favorite Neighbor Child2 swim and I got to tag along. Here is a bit of our weekend. What you can't tell from the swim pics is that FNC2 had a serious ear infection in BOTH ears and was so dang dedicated that she swam anyway knowing every time she would dive into the pool her pain level would increase. She even went to San Francisco with us afterwards to eat at Sam Wo's - only the pics can do them justice - and powered through as if she was fine. FN was able to get a prescription filled and get her on the road to recovery before we left.

Not a lot of knitting was accomplished, but a lot of firsts - first swim meet for me, first time I stayed in a college kids' apt, first time I took the BART, first time I ate at Sam Wo's - oh, and first time I was in a 70 mph vehicle that had a front tire blow out!

My Favorite Neighbor

Finally I get my neighbor to put her dang sweater on! She's a beauty - both of them. (Look in finished objects to see sweater detail.)

Now she's getting a little annoyed with me and my camera:

But now, she's into it. Work it girl!

Zipper Update

Denim isn't new, but I haven't really worn her yet. Finished her in the summer. I loved here dearly when I finished, but somehow the zipper being darker than the sweater was bugging me unless she was all zipped up. Here Denim is closed.

Here Denim is open with that dark zipper:

Here Denim is with her new facing:

I simply cast on four stitches and knit the length of the sweater. In this case, curling stockingnette(?) is just perfect. I used regular thread and stitched down the center of the facing by hand.

I'm a happier camper now.

Tweed Needs Sleeves

As you can tell, I opted the easy way - no lapel, no little pockets. You can't really see it in the pic, but the front band/collar is seed stitch. Collar worked out fine. Measurements look good. We'll see.

Woven Headband/Ear Warmer

Okay. I made one (just finished second - tan one), but do I dare actually wear it when I go out in public in Chicago? Dipsy Doodle made one and I thought it would be a great idea instead of a hair-squashing hat. But then Dipsy is a young whippersnapper. My neighbor mentioned she'd like one of these a long time ago for when we're out walking at night or visiting the horses when it's cold. So since they're really quick knits, I'm actually making one for her and another for one of the Magnificent Four going to Chicago. Now I know something that you can make with one skein of a luxury yarn (NOT that I used luxury yarn on these - next time maybe).

Flash Your Cache

We've all flashed our stash. Let's flash our cache. (If you read this, consider yourself tagged) This is my retained knitting loot (click photo):

First vest made (navy)
Second Fuzzy Feet (first are buried)
Second Clogs
My Knitting Companion Bag
Cowboy Hat
Rose Bucket Hat
Gloves
Aran Zip Up
Flowerbasket Shawl
Victorian Shawl
Seaman's Scarf
Ribbon Scarf
Fuzzy boa
Light Blue Cotton Diamond Sweater
Green sweater from Vintage Knits
Felted tote
Brown Fringe Sweater
Kitchen rags
Bright Blue tote bag ?? Why do I keep this?
And My husband's vest - denim
Husband's Irish Hiking Scarf
Stone Color Shawl Neck Sweater

I remember when I started knitting, Oct '04, I asked Egeria (who used to frequent Knitting Help) how she could knit such beautiful things and give them away. Her response was something along the lines of "I would have too much if I didn't." I remember being baffled because it took me soooo long to produce something.

Now it's time for me to get rid of some things I'm not going to ever wear - that first navy vest is beautiful - but I don't wear vests. Those little bags - color work one, the blue one - really, I 'll never use them. The felted tote didn't work out the way I'd hoped. The Fuzzy Feet have seen better days. Probably won't wear Fringe. LOVE LOVE LOVE my clogs. Love my bucket hat, cowboy hat, cotton sweater. Green Vintage - love the sweater, HATE the yarn.

I've given away hats, socks --- oooh, dang. Forgot my socks for the photo - Sassy stripes - have two pair -- vest, slippers (3 pairs), yellow cotton sweater, Swallowtail Shawl, denim sweater to Mom, chunky green sweater to favorite neighbor's kid, leg warmers, corset, lace wrap sweater. That's all I can think of.

Now to me, that's a lot of yarn I've gone through in two years. (Might I add I live in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA where it's not allll that cold)

It's a fine sock

and I do say so myself. The photography does not do it justice. No, I didn't follow the pattern or I'd have carried that design down to the toe. But don't like lumps in my shoes. Also don't like short row heels. So I did the usual. It fits darn good. I'm wearing it as I cast on Sock 2 before SSS hits.
