Happy New Year!

Here's more than you ever wanted to know about the new year.

My new year's resolutions are yet to be formulated, but according to the article, none of us are too original. Well, my number one thing I think will be KNIT MORE!

The rose ballet wrap from Lana Grossa is my current project that I can't wait to finish so I can start on my Fringe jacket in this nice fat brown yarn that's gonna knit up quick! This is really my first attempt at a yo/decrease pattern, and it's not so easy to figure out what the heck to do when there's shaping and all involved. The sides are giving me fits. But I think I figured out, fudge the pattern a bit - if you have a YO, you better have a decrease. That may have been obvious to some, but...

Recovery

Time to relax, plan my new knitting projects, regroup, organize, clean. I must have some clean empty space to start the new year right. Here's my favorite last minute gift, a Frivol Hat for Lani.

And here is a disappointment, a beautiful pair of brown/black clogs felted TOO SMALL for the recipient, Doug, aka Big Foot.

Yes, there is a Santa

Are these some beautiful stitch markers?????

I was going to wait until after Christmas to post, but just when you think there's nothing that could surprise you, it happens! A big box appears on the porch. And it's almost like it's from Santa, but it's from MrsBear87. (This is supposed to be a card!) Anyway it's large, with a good heft. I'm thinking, well, it's the fruitcake - you know, the one that goes from coast to coast year to year. (And it just so happens that Abi and I both love it - although I was too cheap to make it - that fruit is costly - and NO ONE else would eat it, but me.) Ok. I'm getting to the point.

So in this box is a candelabra with a history, which only makes it more special. The repair is underway, with plenty of time for the Christmas Candelabra to add some grace to our holiday dinner. Picture will follow later. I already impatiently tried to put it all together, and it just wasn't ready for that yet! I guess you really have to let the epoxy dry first. Dang.

Fast Knits

Little fast projects I've been working on - Fuzzy feet (unfelted) for a gift, beanies, and the No-Knot Cravat.

Hanes Freebie

The mail came today, and I immediately saw my long-awaited Hanes freebie package. I opened it without high expectations and busted out laughing. These are supposed to be adult size, mind you. Yes, I know they stretch. But my computer is 13 inches wide. Boy, would they have to stretch. But yes, they were truly free!

Dinner is....

what you have to get through to eat dessert. Now I'm in the spirit (or is that into the spirits). This is a saturated rum cake that is going to be hard to leave alone 'til dinner.
